Chiropractic & Headaches

Do you have a headache:

  • Associated with tension or stiffness in the neck
  • Worse with certain activities or positions of the neck
  • Related to stress or busy periods
  • Tension at the base of the skull
  • Occurring regularly

Having a headache is frustrating as it affects how you think, how you feel and how you function

Most people assume that the headache itself is the problem but a headache is your body’s way of tapping you on the shoulder, saying ‘notice me, notice me’ to let you know that some part of your body is out of balance.

While most people tell you that popping pills temporarily fixes the pain, it doesn’t deal with why you had a headache in the first place. At Chiropractic Balance we ask ‘What is the cause of your Headaches?’

Frequently the cause of Headaches is an imbalance of the spine and nerves (subluxation) and it’s unlikely to get better on its own. Medication may reduce the pain but it often doesn’t solve the underlying problem.

The good news is help is at hand: Spinal imbalance is what our Chiropractors’ specialise in identifying and treating. We want to get you out of pain and keep you like that so you can do the things you enjoy.

If you have headaches, at your first visit we will review your history and do a thorough examination to see if imbalance is causing some or all of your headaches. If it is, we will begin working on correcting it. But we don’t stop there, usually the cause of headaches is multifaceted. We examine the rest of your spine and body to see if its contributing, and look at your lifestyle for what might have caused the imbalance in the first place. We help you focus on making supportive changes that can include exercise, nutrition, posture and wellbeing.

FAQs about Chiropractic & Headaches

Will the Chiropractor crack my neck?

The intent of a Chiropractic adjustment is o restore balance to the nerves, joints and muscles. A very effective and popular technique that Chiropractors use to achieve this is a manual specific manipulation to a joint that is out of a balance.

Dr Roz is a highly trained professional and has had years of experience. Her patients report that the procedure looks and sounds uncomfortable and unusual, however it does not hurt. Specific manipulations are very safe, simple and gentle.

What are the four common causes of headaches?

Other than spinal imbalance causing tension headaches, the three other common causes of dehydration, tiredness and eye strain. If you have ruled these three out and you are still getting headaches, it is likely chiropractic may help.
